Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, an influential scientist considered the father of the nuclear program of Iran
, was killed during an attack that, according to that country, has the stamp of Israel.

The vehicle in which Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was traveling was shot at by several individuals who clashed with his security team on the outskirts of Tehran.

The 59-year-old scientist, head of the Department of Research and Innovation of the Iranian Defense Ministry, was badly injured. He was taken to a hospital, but died shortly after.

Through his Twitter account, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke of serious indications about the role of Israel
in the crime, which, according to him, shows a desperate warmongering of the perpetrators and which he described as State terrorism.

Mossad, Israeli intelligence, had been tracking him for years. The government of Benjamin Netanyahu linked him to an alleged secret project to make an atomic bomb.

In fact, in April 2018, Netanyahu explained those plans on television, describing him as the father of Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

United States
, a close ally of Israel, also had it reviewed and even imposed sanctions on it for years.

The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, also spoke out to warn that there will be “severe revenge.” The crime put the Middle East on high alert.
