Pyramid managed to steal more than seven million dollars in Bogotá

The strategy consisted of promising investors a return of between 1.5% and 3.5% in the Forex market, despite not having the necessary permits to trade in the foreign exchange market or with the authorization of the National Association of Futures to receive money.

“The conduct of the defendants was intended to captivate, in large numbers, clients so that they would invest in the alleged purchase and sale of foreign currency, with an acceptable profit margin, and in this way access their assets”, the court affirmed.

According to the investigation, the events occurred between March 1, 2004 and February 3, 2009, a period during which they managed to receive money from 120 people through the firm Fit Internacional Group Corp and reached raise more than seven million dollars.

In fact, one of the victims managed to deposit a million dollars, of which at first they showed profitability, but later, he discovered thanks to speculation, that he had given his money to a pyramid.

Despite the alert, the investors were unable to recover their resources and the Prosecutor’s Office, after conducting an accounting expert analysis, reported that the money of the 83 victims who were credited to the process was not invested in Forex.

They also indicated that they were persuaded by the scammers while playing golf at a renowned club in the city and later met in a luxurious office of the alleged company in the north of the capital.

For his part, the judge imposed a fine of 29,057.41 minimum wages and determined that arrest warrants be issued against him once the decision is final.
