The President of the Republic, Iván Duque, published through his Twitter account a video of the current condition of Providencia after the passage of Hurricane Iota on the island.
“The clearing of roads has already been achieved, progress is being made in the removal, cleaning and reestablishment of the conditions for the electrical flow,” stressed Duque, who also highlights the resilient spirit of the inhabitants of Providencia.
Although the landscape of the island has changed a bit, its inhabitants still remember the terrifying and difficult times they had to go through because of Hurricane Iota that passed through the island in category 5.
“Thank God we fight against this monster and we fight with our families,” says one of the inhabitants.
Another of those affected describes the situation as unusual and states that the islanders survived “by the law of survival: under the dishwasher, under the mattress.”
