At dawn this Sunday, in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Remedies in Riohacha, many people came to say goodbye to the composer Romualdo Brito. His death shocked the entire Colombian musical sphere; especially in the land where he was born.

More than a hundred friends, acquaintances, colleagues and family attended the mass that was celebrated to guide his soul with the encounter with the Lord, who still had living tears and entire pain for the loss of this exemplary and legendary man.

“One of the most important and prolific composers of the great magdalena culture. We cannot ignore the greatness of Romualdo in folklore and we have to thank God for lending us a little while to enhance accordion music as he did ”, acknowledged Ricardo Gómez Durán, legal director of Sayco Riohacha.

The assistants surrounded with hugs and condolences a family saddened by the death of Brito. Mrs. Indira De La Cruz, widow of the Juggler, accompanied the coffin with the remains of her husband at all times. Crying came into her eyes with each memory and her voice turned to heartbroken moans as she tried to articulate words.

The formal ceremony was attended by singers, composers and musicians, to honor the memory and legacy of Romualdo Brito. The governor of La Guajira, Nemesio Roys and the deputy Delay Magdaniel were also observed. to offer its condolences for the mourning that not only affects a family, but also the entire culture of the Colombian coast.

Romualdo Brito López, the famous Juglar Guajiro, author of the greatest accordion music hits, was born in the town of Tomarrazón, to the south of Riohacha on March 17, 1953. He died in a tragic vehicle accident on November 20, when he was traveling through the town of San Roque, Curumaní municipality in the Cesar department.

The body of Romualdo Brito López, will get its eternal home in the land where he was born, as he said in life. For this reason, his remains were taken to a cemetery in Tomarrazón, a district where his mother Carmen López also rests.
