“Cinthya worked with me long before I started my political campaign, she was my campaign manager, a person that I totally trusted. At the beginning of this year there was a scandal for a false labor certification, now a much stronger document came out and that I cannot ignore. The Office of Human Talent of the Mayor’s Office asked the Office of Internal Control to verify the veracity of the documents presented by Cinthya in order to obtain a contract. The Office of Internal Control asked the Iafic university to certify the veracity and the university said that this certificate is true, ”said the president.
Through a video, in which he expresses being “sorry” and “sad”, the president reiterates that it must be consistent with his anti-corruption discourse.
“That being the case unless later Cinthya succeeds in verifying that the Iafic was wrong and if it was valid … with the pain in my soul and at this moment Cinthya is no longer going with the Save Cartagena administration and I say it with a broken heart not only because of the affection I have for her but also because of the hard work that Cinthya has been doing at the head of the honorary title of First Lady. But you have to be consistent, the people of Cartagena chose me not for being a politician but for being an anti-corruption activist ”.
The mayor says he is “disappointed” with this incident but that “he cannot allow that if Cinthya presented a statement that the university that supposedly issued it says it is false, he cannot continue in my administration.”
And he added “if he had consulted me before taking possession, before she took possession, he would have said Cinthya don’t do those things. I don’t know if she was badly advised, if she was scared, but Cinthya my heart is with you, but you have to understand that this is a decision that has no turning back ”. On November 20, it was learned that, following a request made by the Mayor’s Office of Internal Control, the Caribbean Regional University Corporation Iafic, denied the issuance of the degree certificate that Pérez Amador had presented Cinthya Pérez to the administration.
In its reply, Iafic indicated that the business administration program offered and developed for the time by the corporation obeys the modality of professional technical higher education and not that of a technologist, so the title presented by Pérez Amador does not correspond to one issued by that corporation.
“The document presented by you called Degree Act 3204 of July 20, 2008 does not correspond to the reality of the information stored in our academic files in its content or in its signatures,” the response reads.
With the departure of Pérez, 10 casualties are completed in the William Dau administration in just 11 months of government.
