The United States hopes to begin a vaccination program against covid-19 after December 10, said the head of the group that leads the efforts to face the pandemic in the government.
“Our plan is to be able to send the vaccines to the vaccination sites within 24 hours after approval” by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Moncef Slaoui told CNN.
“So I hope maybe on the second day of approval, December 11 or 12,” he added.
FDA advisers are reportedly meeting Dec. 8-10 to discuss approval of vaccines that Pfizer and Moderna say are at least 95 percent effective.

Pfizer said a few days ago that its vaccine against COVID-19 is 95% effective.
Through a press release, The multinational indicated that its vaccine against the coronavirus presents an effectiveness and safety in that percentage, 28 days after the application of the first dose.
“The study results mark an important step in this historic eight-month journey to present a vaccine capable of helping end this devastating pandemic,” said Albert Bourla, CEO of the company.
Moderna, for her part, assured that her antidote is also 95% effective in the last phase of tests, which had about 30,000 participants.
“This positive interim analysis of our study has given us the first clinical validation that our treatment can prevent COVID-19, including the most severe phase of the disease,” said Stéphane Bancel, CEO of the company.
