Massacre in Algeria, Cauca, leaves between 5 and 7 people murdered

Armed men came to a public establishment and fired indiscriminately at the people who were chatting there, leaving a balance of between 5 and 7 people killed, as well as other wounds that were transferred to the municipality hospital, the media said.

The radio frequency clarified that said information is unofficial and that, at the time of issuing the report, in the early hours of Sunday, no authority had ruled on the incident that occurred in southern Cauca.

However, the station added, the department’s government secretary, Luis Angulo, said that although he does not know what happened, the authorities went to the area where the massacre occurred in order to verify the complaints about.

The local journalist Rubén Zuñiga published a video on his Twitter account in which the moment in which some of the wounded are helped by the community would be evidenced.

For its part, activist Juan Camilo Caicedo denounced that among the mortal victims there is a social leader.

The department of Cauca, where various illegal armed groups such as criminal gangs, dissidents from the Farc and Eln commit crimes, is experiencing a strong wave of violence that, only in 2020, has left 11 massacres (without adding that of this Saturday 21 November), according to the Institute for Development and Peace, Indepaz.

Less than 2 weeks ago, also in Algeria, Cauca, a massacre was perpetrated that left 3 people dead, including a minor.
