The departure of Armando Benedetti and Roy Barreras from the U Party is due to a decision of the community, which was not a resignation, as the senators indicated at first.
According to documents released by W Radio, on October 15, the U Party notified Senator Roy Barreras that it was no longer part of that political group.
The document indicates that Senator Barreras would have incurred “very serious offenses of violation of the banking regime for not acting on the bench, in accordance with the Law.”

In addition, they claim that he made public comments that damaged the image of the Party and the members of that community.
With respect to Senator Armando Benedetti, through a communiqué, he was notified of his expulsion, arguing that he was found to have violated the bench regime for failure to fulfill different duties.
The most serious thing is that not only did he not accept the decisions of the bench but also cast a vote contrary to what was defined by the senators’ bench.
The fact that Benedetti and Barreras were expelled from their party does not hurt them. In fact, they can benefit from this decision, since when expelled, senators can create a new political movement or join an existing one.
With the expulsion, both senators are saved from an accusation of double militancy, which would be much more damaging to continue their political life, since now they can again aspire to the Congress of the Republic with another community in the next elections.
On this, Dilian Francisca Toro, president of the party, said on W Radio that she had not been informed about these expulsions.
“So far, I have been in office for three weeks and the secretary still had not informed me, he only did it today. What I can tell you is that I will do the rigorous legal consultations to define the steps to follow,” he declared.
