Antiochean cyclist Jos Tito Hernndez (Medelln) has won the eighth stage of the 70th edition of the Vuelta a Colombia, a 163.3 kilometer day held this Friday between the Colombian towns of Manizales and Belalcazar.

With a time of 3 hours, 38 minutes and 52 seconds, Hernndez won alone in the arrival at Belalcazar ahead of Didier Chaparro (Pride Paisa) -at 1 seconds- and Sebastin Castao (Pride Paisa) -at 1 minute and 21 seconds-, second and third respectively. Juan Pablo Vallejo (UAE Colombia) was fourth.

The winner of the stage came out of the escape of the day, of 14 riders, who despite losing components managed to dispute the stage victory.

Also Colombian Diego Camargo, who donned the leader’s jersey after finishing second in the fifth stage and defended it with solvency in the time-climbing of the seventh stage, remained one more day at the head of the individual general classification of the round, which he did not suffer changes in his first four positions.

The Return to Colombia continue this Saturday are the dispute of its ninth and penultimate stage, 87.1 kilometers between Riomar and Medelln.
