On the morning of this Friday, President Iván Duque Márquez confirmed that the Public Force captured – after a fight – Rolan Arnulfo Torres Huertas, alias Álvaro Boyaco, head of the dissidents that commit crimes in the eastern part of the country and a henchman of ‘Gentle Duarte’.
“The capture of ‘Álvaro Boyaco’ is vital. This criminal is accused of the death of several social leaders and of committing criminal acts in the orinoquía of Colombia, particularly in the department of Meta, “said Duque.
By alias Álvaro Boyaco had a reward of 100 million pesos and was located by the Army, troops of the Omega Task Force, in the village of Bocana del Perdido, in La Macarena, Meta.
Army sources confirmed to EL TIEMPO that since Saturday they had been following the trail of ‘Álvaro Boyaco’ until this morning that they located him on a road in Bocana Perdido. He did not heed the stop sign made by the uniformed men, which led to a confrontation.

In the place, ‘Álvaro Boyaco’ was injured, to whom the combat nurses of the Omega Task Force provided first aid, and was transferred by helicopter to Florencia, in Caquetá.
For his part, the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, said that the Omega troops received support from the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police, managing to formalize the capture of ‘Álvaro Boyaco’.
“In military action (…) the combat was registered and another criminal died there “, Trujillo highlighted.
Who is ‘Álvaro Boyaco’?
Against the leader of the dissidents, who had been committing crimes for more than 15 years, there is an arrest warrant in force for homicide of a protected person, personal injury, aggravated homicide, arms trafficking and conspiracy to commit a crime.
According to the Defense Minister, ‘Álvaro Boyaco’ joined the defunct FARC in 2005, and “Since 2018 he worked as finance chief of the ‘Jorge Briceño’ structure of the residual Gao“, he specified.
The leader of the dissidents was part of the most wanted cartel.
For the Army, ‘Álvaro Boyaco’ was a high value target, and more so when it was confirmed that he was behind the attack, on June 16, which claimed the lives of six soldiers in the Puerto Lozada sector, Meta.
