At the end of October, the Gómez Hurtado family, through Join for Colombia, filed a tutelage before the JEP in order to know all the information that was had regarding the assassination of the politician and presidential candidate, assassinated 25 years ago.

This appeal arose after former members of the secretariat of the Once a FARC guerrilla publicly recognized their authorship in the crime of Álvaro Gómez, a fact that surprised the country, given that the bulk of the hypotheses being considered did not include the insurgents as responsible.

But nevertheless, The family of the conservative leader has categorically denied that version of the ex-FARC.

Thus, in the protection presented to the JEP, the family considered their rights to access to information and the truth had been violated, and they requested the jurisdiction to provide them with the information provided by the ex-FARC on the assassination.

Due to this appeal, the version of ‘Lozada’ and ‘Timochenko’ had been postponed, until it became known about the negative response to the petition, which opened the door for the JEP to listen in December to the ex-guerrillas, who today are in political life.
