This Monday Laura Olascuaga, Miss Bolívar, was crowned in Barranquilla, who will be the new Colombian representative before Miss Universe, after the former Miss Atlántico Natalie Ackerman, will buy the franchise and take away from the National Beauty Pageant the power to send a candidate to international competition.
Olascuaga is 1.80 meters tall, was born in Cartagena, Bolívar, 25 years ago, and is a social communicator – journalist from the Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla. His grandparents are from San Juan (Huila) and, in some interviews, he has recognized himself as such.
The current Miss Colombia already had experience in these contests, as she had participated in the National Beauty Contest in 2018, when she was vice-queen. At that time, Gabriela Tafur from Valle del Cauca was crowned Miss Colombia. However, days later, Olascuaga resigned his title, as representative of the Bolívar department. At the time he said he did it for personal reasons.
In her Instagram stories, she was asked about the reasons for her resignation from the title of viceroy and she responded with an image of scissors cutting wings.. However, in her casting to participate in Miss Universe Colombia, the Cartagena said that, at that time, she had two objectives: to be Miss Colombia, which was not achieved, and to continue her career, so when she did not win, she decided to resign. to the title, “but I never gave up on my followers, the people who believed in me, or my department,” he said.
After doing all the filters, Laura won the position of Miss Bolívar on October 12 of this year and spoke about her past experience. “Second chances are a reflection of the perseverance, tenacity and determination that permeates dreams. Today I start a new chapter to inspire and demonstrate the great pride that I feel as a Bolivarian woman and as a Colombian. From this moment on, I ratify my commitment and dedication to this work that becomes my life mission and the dream of thousands of Colombian women, ”she wrote on her Instagram account that day.
On Monday night, the 16 finalists were chosen, who were: Casanare, Atlántico, Huila, Cartagena, Norte de Santander, Cesar, Amazonas, Caldas, Valle del Cauca, Bolivar, Antioquia, Nariño, Meta, Santander and Quindío, who was the one that obtained the most votes from the public.
Then the six finalists were chosen to answer the questions of the jury, these were: Jenifer Pulgarín, Norte de Santander; Barbara Rodríguez, Cauca; Yeraldine Grajales, Quindio; Laura Olascuaga, Bolívar; Laura Lamus, Santander and Dayana Cárdenas from Cabildo Encanto Amazonas.
Santander, Norte de Santander and Bolívar were in the top 3. Finally, Laura lascuaga became Miss Colombia and will represent the country in the international contest that still has no date.
