Without light, with communication difficulties, without being able to leave the hotel and with great uncertainty, a group of students from the Industrial University of Santander is trapped in San Andrés y Providencia.

According to Daniela Sánchez, one of the Santander students who is on the island, the group traveled to San Andrés this Sunday for a five-day vacation.

“The flight had no problem, there was no turbulence, everything went as planned,” said Daniela.

However, at night it began to rain and strong winds began to be felt. At dawn the power went out and the curfew was activated so that no one could go out on the streets.

“We know there are fallen trees and some emergencies outside, but from the hotel we cannot see anything. There is no power service and communications are intermittent. Yes it is raining and there is a lot of wind, but for now we are all fine.”

What they were told is that the hurricane is expected to move tonight and the rains to decrease. They have scheduled the return flight for next Thursday, November 19.
