UNGRD arrives with 10,000 humanitarian aid

The National Unit for Risk Management (UNGRD), an entity with which it began the management of at least 10,000 humanitarian aid, which would join the district effort from the OAGRD that has also provided market and toilet kits and mats to alleviate the situation . “Some 5,000 tents also arrived from Bogotá, with which we will be able to serve more people in the event that the effects worsen,” added Fernando Abello Rubiano, director of the Office for Disaster Risk Management.

San Andrés on high alert

The General Maritime Directorate (Dimar), through the Caribbean Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research Center (CIOH), reports that Tropical Storm Iota continues its passage through the Caribbean generating winds of 35 knots, that is, 63 kilometers per hour, and gusts up to 40 knots, which is equivalent to a speed of 72 kilometers per hour.

This tropical storm continues to generate rains and electrical storms in La Guajira, Magdalena, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre and the insular area; notes the CIOH.

“It is expected that Iota will continue to affect these areas and especially the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, as well as the Cayos del Norte Islands, especially the Serrana, Serranilla and Quitasueño Islands, with moderate to strong rainfall, and winds between 10 and 20 knots, that is, from 18 to 36 kilometers per hour, wave heights between 2.0 and 3.5 meters and possible storm surge “, reports the CIOH.
