The race for the Presidency in 2022 continues to stir. The last to make the leap into the presidential arena was the Senator of the Democratic Pole Alexander López, who has just been proclaimed by the National Executive Committee, the highest instance of the community.
“National Executive Committee of Polo unanimously proclaims the presidential candidacy of Senator Alexander López, recognized social fighter. His program will be to work for a historical bloc of political and social forces that contributes to the transformation of the country, ”confirmed Senator Iván Cepeda.
The party has not yet confirmed whether it will go definitively with the sole candidate for the presidential elections or if it will consult with sectors of the center-left, a spectrum to which Senator Gustavo Petro belongs.

Although the campaign will take shape next year, as it usually happens in these cases, in recent months The inclinations of several political leaders who will be protagonists in the 2022 electoral bid have been seen.
The first to give stitches of what is coming was Uribe, who in an interview with EL TIEMPO revealed several of his views on the matter.
Uribe made it clear that uribism must have a “great opening” to a “coalition” in 2022 and that this alliance “has” to be “of great importance for Colombia.” In other words, that the Democratic Center must seek agreements with other political sectors to retain the leadership of the State.
Another who made his position clear was former governor and candidate Sergio Fajardo. In an interview with EL TIEMPO, he was emphatic that his line will continue to be the center and that he will not make alliances or participate in consultations with Gustavo Petro or with Uribismo.
Although he was in favor of creating coalitions and competing with other candidates, Fajardo was clear that this type of “convergence” has to be “outside the extremes.”
