Valle del Cauca surpassed 85,000 covid-19 infections on Monday since the pandemic reached the region, according to the Ministry of Health.
In the last 24 hours, 802 new cases of the disease were reported in the department, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the health authority.
The region also confirmed 17 deaths from the virus, bringing the number of deaths in the Valley to 2,846.
The deaths reported this Monday occurred in Cali (8), Palmira (3), Tuluá (2), El Cerrito (1), Obando (1), Cartago (1) and Guacarí (1).

National overview
The total number of covid-19 cases in Colombia reached 1,093,256 this Monday, after the Ministry of Health confirmed 9,935 new infections in the last 24 hours.
The regions that reported the most cases this Monday were Antioquia (2,401), Bogotá (1,408), Valle (802), Huila (517) and Tolima (476). The health authorities processed a total of 31,047 tests, 25,694 by PCR and 5,353 for antigen.
Likewise, the bulletin reported 7,992 new recoveries from the disease and 155 deaths due to the virus, of which 129 were registered in previous days.
Since the pandemic reached the country last March, 985,796 people have recovered from the disease and 31,670 have died.

Colombia is the eighth country in the world with the most cases of covid-19, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The country ranks below the United States, India, Brazil, Russia, France, Spain and Argentina.
In deaths, Colombia is ranked 11th worldwide, behind the United States, Brazil, India, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain, Iran and Peru.
