7,440 new cases of covid-19 are reported in Colombia, this November 8: daily deaths return to 196

The Ministry of Health reported, this Sunday, November 8, 7,440 new cases of coronavirus in Colombia. In the last 24 hours, 32,902 tests were processed, 25,340 are PCR and 7,562 antigens.

The report also indicates that the death toll is 196. Today, the country reaches a total of 32,791 deaths since the virus reached the national territory.

Colombia reached 1,143,887 infected of which 70,467 are active cases and 1,038,082 correspond to positive cases that have already managed to overcome the disease.

Regarding the contagions of covid-19 by cities and departments of the country, the department of Antioquia continues to lead, registering 1706 cases, followed by Bogotá with 1,241, followed by Valle del Cauca, Tolima and Cundinamarca.

There are 7,440 conglomerates in the country. The territories are: Amazonas, Antioquia, Arauca, Atlantic, Barranquilla, Bogotá, Boyacá, Bolívar, Caldas, Caquetá, Cartagena, Casanare, Cauca, Cesar, Chocó, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Putumayo , Quindío, Risaralda, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Santander, Sucre, Tolima, Valle, Vaupés, Vichada, Guaviare and Guainía.

The Ministry of Health and social protection established the guidelines and orientations that should be considered by the health authorities, IPS, and the public. According to the entity, the covid-19 establishes commitments for everyone, which is why the correct management and disposal of waste derived from the care of patients with coronavirus is essential both in homes and at the hospital level.

“The population must be aware of the good final disposition of elements for the management of covid-19, such as masks, gloves or any other element that may represent a risk in the current pandemic. For this reason, the National Government has provided different documents that must be taken into account not only by those responsible for the provision of health services and territorial authorities, but also the secretaries of health and the general public and other responsible actors. of the management ”, warned Jairo Hernández, Deputy Director of Environmental Health.

For hospitals, it was established that “from the source of generation of the waste, there is a management with general and specific biosafety and prevention measures in relation to the other waste generated in the hospital environment, ensuring that it is managed with containment measures (red bag ), marking, that it remains stored for the shortest possible time and once it leaves the generator, the measures are guaranteed until its treatment and / or final disposal, ”the deputy director reported.

Similarly, Hernández mentioned that in homes from the source of generation of the waste, it must be differentiated from the other waste generated in the home, in turn that this must be managed with containment measures, that is, double black bag, marking Through white tape with the label “Not Usable – Waste with covid-19”.
