699 new cases of covid-19 and 28 deaths this November 28

The total number of covid-19 infections in Valle del Cauca rose to 106,573 this Saturday, according to the most recent epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health.

The health authority reported that 699 new cases of the disease were confirmed in the region in the last 24 hours, a number slightly higher than that registered this Friday.

In addition, the report confirmed that 28 new deaths from the coronavirus occurred in the department.

The deaths occurred in Cali (14), Tuluá (3), Buga (2), Candelaria (2), Cartago (2), Andalucía (1), Ansermanuevo (1), Ginebra (1), Guacarí (1) and San Peter (1).

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,440 people have died from the coronavirus in Valle del Cauca, the majority (2,261) in Cali, followed by Palmira (215), Buenaventura (183), Tuluá (133) and Buga (91) .

The region is preparing for the holiday season amid the risk that a new peak of infections may occur at this time.

For this reason, the local authorities decided to prohibit year-end parties and events in which crowds may occur in the department, as well as to declare the orange alert in the region’s health network.

Likewise, the Mayor of Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina, announced that no face-to-face events will be held within the framework of the Cali Fair, despite the fact that some businessmen continue to announce concerts.

National overview

The total number of covid-19 cases in Colombia reached 1,299,613 this Saturday, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Ministry of Health, which reported 9,103 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Of that number, 1,197,204 patients have recovered and 36,401 have lost their lives. This Saturday, 7,705 new recovered and 187 died from the virus were reported, of which 163 belong to people who died more than 24 hours ago.

In total, 55,508 tests were processed for this Saturday’s bulletin, 35,345 of them PCR and 20,163 of antigens.

The regions with the most cases were Bogotá (2,431), Antioquia (1,203), Valle del Cauca (699), Tolima (575) and Cundinamarca (449).

Colombia ranks tenth in the world in the number of infections, behind the United States, India, Brazil, France, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy and Argentina according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

In deaths, the country ranks twelfth, behind the United States, Brazil, India, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Iran, Spain, Russia and Argentina.
