A survey carried out by the Colombian American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) among affiliated companies of various sizes and economic sectors, shows that most companies do not dislike the proposal of the National Government to eliminate the holidays, to recover the production that it has been lost due to mandatory quarantine.

According to the survey, 61% of companies agree that holidays in the second half of the year are regular business days, 27.8% disagree, and 11.1% said it depends on the sectors.

Most of the companies stated that the industrial, agricultural and transport sectors should be the first to restart their work; followed by the construction industry, commerce and the financial sector; and a smaller percentage of entrepreneurs believe that the services, communications and mining-energy sectors should be reactivated.

The survey also indicates that compulsory social isolation affected 53% of the companies consulted, while 39% did not generate a great impact, and a smaller percentage stopped their operations.

“The main problem that has affected the operation of these companies, during the isolation, is the reduction of income, followed by non-compliance with payments by clients; in contrast, the payment to suppliers, taxes and payroll or contractors has been more bearable ”, concludes the survey.
