512 new cases of covid-19 and 12 deaths reported this October 6 the Minsalud

The total number of covid-19 infections in Valle del Cauca rose to 66,245 this Tuesday, after the Ministry of Health reported 512 new cases of the disease in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, the entity confirmed 12 deaths from the virus in the department, six of them occurred in Cali and the others registered in Palmira, Toro, Jamundí, Pradera, Tuluá and Alcalá.

The total of deaths in the department reached 2,378; more than 70% of the deaths (1,680) have been registered in Cali.

Colombia approaches 870,000 cases

At the national level, health authorities reported 7,605 new cases of covid-19 between this Monday and Tuesday. In total, the laboratories processed 37,623 tests, 23,881 PCR and 13,742 antigens.

The total number of infections in the country reached 869,808, of which 70,056 are active.

The regions with the most infections in the last 24 hours were Bogotá (2,409), Antioquia (1,195), Valle del Cauca (512), Santander (335) and Meta (308).

The epidemiological bulletin also confirmed the recovery of 4,512 people and the death of 173, of which 156 belong to previous days. The total of recovered in the country reached 770,812 and that of deaths, 27,017.

Colombia is the fifth country in the world with the most infections, behind the United States, India, Brazil and Russia, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

In deaths, the country ranks eleventh, behind the United States, Brazil, India, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Italy, Peru, France, Spain and Iran.
