14,941 new cases this Friday, the highest daily figure so far

Colombia counted 14,941 new cases of covid-19 this Friday, the highest daily figure since the arrival of the pandemic, last March.

This figure exceeds -by one- that of this Thursday, when a record of infections was also set in the country.

The Ministry of Health reported that 236 people died from the disease, but clarified that 209 of these deaths occurred in previous days.

For its part, the National Institute of Health (INS) assured that it processed 46,646 tests to detect the disease.

The infections amounted to 1,574,707, of which 98,091 remain active, while 1,430,709 exceeded the virus.

Covid-19 has killed 41,690 people so far, according to the Ministry of Health.

In the valley

Valle del Cauca reported 1,442 new cases this Friday, for a total of 131,644.

In the last hours there were 36 deaths associated with the disease.

The deaths correspond to patients from Cali (21), Tuluá (6), Palmira (3), Zarzal, Buga, Buenaventura, Cartago, Jamundí and Caicedonia (1).
