Clint Eastwood has nothing to do with CBD products and never gave an interview to back them up, according to new lawsuits in which the legendary director and actor sued retailers who used his name on fake items to advertise their products.
In a pair of lawsuits filed in Los Angeles district court on Wednesday, Eastwood sued three different CBD manufacturers and 10 different retailers who had posted articles in which it appeared to endorse cannabidiol products.
“This action arises from an online scam that uses a completely fabricated, defamatory, defamatory ‘news article’ about Mr. Eastwood to promote and sell cannabidiol (‘CBD’) products,” the lawsuit reads. “In truth, Mr. Eastwood has no connection whatsoever to any CBD product and never gave that interview.”

Eastwood shared screenshots of a couple of articles titled “Big Pharma In Outrage Over Clint Eastwood’s CBD: [Name of CBD Product] – He shoots with this! The articles then continue to quote Eastwood under a photo of him saying that he would “walk away from the limelight to spend more time on his wellness business.” The article even says that the studies gave Eastwood an “ultimatum” for choose between acting or your wellness line of CBD products.
Eastwood calls the quotes “demonstrably false.”
The articles link to websites to buy CBD products, and the lawsuit even accuses companies of using the Eastwood name in website metadata.
Eastwood isn’t alone in appearing in CBD product ads, as Ellen DeGeneres and Sandra Bullock also filed a similar lawsuit last year. And Tom Hanks shared an image on Instagram that showed he apparently endorsed a CBD product, calling the ad “an intentional hoax.”
One lawsuit names the manufacturers “Euphoric CBD”, “Sera Relief” and “Patriot Supreme”, while the other names a number of individuals. You are suing for false endorsement, trademark infringement, violation of customary law, and demanding a jury trial.
