Over the last several weeks, light machine guns have become one of words Call of Duty: Warzonethe most popular weapon types. But there were a few standouts in the class that had everything different, and Infinity Ward decided to step in to try to balance things out, at least a little bit.
The biggest changes of this patch are focused on the Brown MK9 LMG. The MK9 is a high-rate firearm, with low damage more than made up for by its great accuracy and impressive range. Unfortunately, the range was a bit too impressive, so Infinity Ward cut its damage range.
At the other end of the spectrum is the M91 LMG, which gets this patch a few buffs. First of all, it gets higher damage from close range, to make it a little more useful in tight quarters and rapid gunfights. For battles that are a little further away, the M91 also gets an increased ADS speed, to help players achieve far faster goals.
Finally there’s the Holger-26 LMG, which is something like a hybrid LMG and assault rifle. Technically, this should make it a perfect weapon for Warzone, because it is lighter and faster than most LMGs, but shares its massive magazine capacity. But the weapon was not very strong enough to take that place. After the patch, the Holger-26 will do more range damage, making it a more versatile threat, and has faster ADS speed to make those long-range shots a little easier.
In non-LMG news, this patch also brought some balance changes to the FAL, which received increased headhot damage, and reduced near-quarter damage, which should help increase its slowly growing popularity. All of these changes come just a week later WarzoneThe season 5 patch, which brought some of the biggest card changes the game has seen so far.
