Wearing masks outdoors is absurd

Reducing the quarantine from 14 to 10 days is the appropriate measure, even late. We are speaking here not only from the point of view of our experience, but also from the experience of Europe. After 5-7 days, the release of the virus from the nasopharynx and the risk of infecting a susceptible individual with closer contact is very small. Therefore, there is a reason to reduce the quarantine. This was commented on btv by Dr. Trifon Valkov, a doctor at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases – Sofia, who has been working with Kovid 19 on the front line since the beginning of the pandemic.

Outdoor Masks: The whole class believes that masks cannot completely prevent infection. As for taking them outdoors, I think it’s absurd. Anyone looking for some logic in this measure should look away from medicine. There is no medical logic here: walking my dog in the park and being alone, but wearing a mask. At the same time, having 50 people in a restaurant without masks does not make sense. The logic does not exist, it is categorical

The idea of tightening the measures is the attempt of the health system to reduce the incidence in order to preserve health facilities. But that’s not the way it can be done. I don’t think this practice wins anything, he said.

It is important to specify what type of mask they keep. Disposable masks, which are used in mass, such as surgery, need to be changed every 40 to 60 minutes. Those with special filters have a longer life, up to 8 to 12 hours. But people use them for several months, Dr. Valkov said.

The surgical mask is ineffective even in the first minute of application, because it only reduces the risk, it is not hermetically sealed. So whether it takes an hour or 30 minutes, it is not suitable initially, especially for this type of infection, the doctor said.

None of the doctors who work in the so-called first line, nor any of the specialists who are directly involved in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, who know the pathogenesis in detail, no one doubted that with the cold, we will not see an increase in the morbidity. This is quite expected, “Dr. Trifon Valkov told BNR previously.

Even these measures that we have at the moment, which have been imposed, which are observed by a part of the population, are absolutely sufficient, believes the infectious disease specialist.
