“The March 28 date for the parliamentary elections can be reconsidered in case of extremely critical events,” Professor Alexander Marinov, chairman of the President’s Strategic Council, told BNR.

According to him, no one can predict whether the epidemic situation in the country on May 28 will not be worse than on March 28.

Marinov noted that according to the Constitution, the earliest possible date is March 28, and the last, May 28, and the decree by which the president will schedule the elections will be issued in January 2021.

The President of the Strategic Council stressed that when the time comes to indicate the date of the elections, President Rumen Radev will consult with the CEC and health experts.

“It is important what the state is doing, and especially the parliament, to hold free and fair elections,” he said, noting that the parliamentary majority is doing everything possible to hinder rather than facilitate elections, and said: useful. We have a classic hearing for a possible change in legislation to allow voting by mail.

Prof. Marinov commented that the third part of the Bulgarian National Development Strategy Document submitted for public discussion sets a direction and values for a long period of time.
