Earlier today, health officials in Colorado said they had found a highly contagious version of COVID-19, first established in the UK. A second separate new strain was discovered some time ago in South Africa, and according to the CDC, it may already be present in the United States, BNR reported.
Dr. Henry Walk of the CDC said that “because the crownworm variants are spreading more rapidly, they can lead to more cases and put even more pressure on our already busy healthcare systems.”
Meanwhile, the number of new registered cases of Covid-19 in the United States increased by 201,555 in the last 24 hours, reaching 19,510,836 since the start of the pandemic, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The number of deaths has increased in the last 24 hours by 3,725 to a total of 338,561 since the beginning of the pandemic in the United States.
