Two family outbreaks of COVID-19 in the town of Osina – Diseases

There are thirteen new positive samples for COVID-19 in the town of Osina in Satovcha.

This was said at a briefing today by the director of the Regional Health Inspectorate / RHI / in Blagoevgrad, Dr. Kaloyan Kaloyanov. According to him, these are two family outbreaks.

Two weeks ago, ten cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the village, and the new thirteen come from samples taken two days ago, the results of which came out yesterday.

Of the ten cases initially identified, four were housed in the Infectious Diseases Department of the Gotse Delchev Hospital. The new cases are contacts of the initially established. There are five children among them. Everyone is in good health and is quarantined at home.

According to Dr. Kaloyanov, these are two families who live in three neighboring houses on the same street. At this stage, it is not planned to isolate individual neighborhoods or the entire village, said the RHI director – Blagoevgrad. The contact persons are isolated and the agencies of the Ministry of the Interior control the observance of the quarantine.

A consultation was made with the national operational headquarters, the situation is being monitored. If the number of cases increases, the village may be quarantined, said Dr. Kaloyanov. At this stage, prescriptions were issued for the complete disinfection of the village and strict compliance with measures against the epidemic.

The other two cases in the Blagoevgrad district, announced today at the briefing at the national operational headquarters, are from a 62-year-old woman hospitalized in Blagoevgrad and a 78-year-old man from the Home for the Elderly in the Strumsko district of Blagoevgrad.

The old man is in good condition and is isolated in a separate room in the house. So far, sixty samples have been taken from users and staff at Strumsko’s house. Sixty more will be taken today. In the event that new cases are established, the first floor of the social institution building will be for asymptomatic positive people and in good general condition, said Dr. Kaloyanov.
