United States President Donald Trump has yet to recover from Covid-19, and some of his vital signs are very concerning. This was reported by a person familiar with his health, quoted by Reuters and CNN. On Friday night, the president had severe breathing difficulties and received extra oxygen.

The allegations of the Reuters source collide with the message of the team of doctors who treat Trump. Doctors said at a news conference Saturday that he was “very well.” One of the doctors even explained that Trump told him how he felt like he could get out of the hospital today.

Following the release of his health information, Trump announced on Twitter that he was feeling fine with the help of doctors and nurses from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

“The doctors, nurses and everyone at Great Walter Reed Medical Center, and the other amazing institutions that have joined them, are AMAZING!” Trump wrote.

“Extraordinary progress has been made in the last six months in fighting this pest. With your help, I feel good! “Trump added.

Trump was getting oxygen

A source close to the White House said Trump received extra oxygen from the moment he fell ill. The New York Times was the first to report on the situation and CNN confirmed it. He was diagnosed Thursday night and the following night he had trouble breathing and had to take extra oxygen.

Earlier in the day, Trump was admitted to the hospital for treatment after testing positive. This happens three days after experiencing the first symptoms. Also infected are Trump’s wife, Melania, her campaign manager, William Stepin, and former presidential adviser Kellen Conway.

An official statement from the White House said Trump would spend “the next few days” at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where several US presidents were being treated. A statement said the decision was a “precautionary measure” and was taken on the advice of Trump’s doctor.

“I think I’m fine, but we have to make sure things work out,” Trump said in a short video posted on Twitter.

The president has a mild fever and cough, presidential sources said, cited by Reuters.

White House physician Sean Connelly said Friday night that Trump is fine and does not need additional oxygen at this time. Trump received the first dose of Remdezivir. Gilead’s drug is the only one that has passed medical tests so far and has been shown to work against the virus. Previously, Trump also took an experimental drug with antibodies.

Trump is at risk of complications from the coronavirus because he is 74 years old and overweight. He does not exercise and is not known to eat a healthy diet. Yet for the past four years, Trump has been in good shape.

So far, authorities have ruled out handing over power to Vice President Mike Pence, who tested negative for coronavirus.

The New York Times reported that Trump attended a fundraising meeting at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Thursday. He contacted about 100 people there, and the participants noted that he seemed lethargic.

At least eight of those present at Amy Connie Barrett’s nomination for a White House Supreme Court Justice tested positive. Among them are two Republican senators, three reporters and the president of the University of Notre Dame, John Jenkins. The meeting was last Saturday.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who also suffered from a severe virus in April, told reporters there was no doubt that Trump will make a strong recovery.

“He’s naturally very tough and I’m sure he’ll overcome it very well,” Johnson said.

The Kremlin and Beijing want a speedy recovery

In a personal message to Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the “life energy” of the US leader would help him defeat the virus, AFP and TASS reported.

“I am convinced that his inherent vital energy, joy and optimism will help him deal with the dangerous virus,” Putin said in a telegram to Trump, the content of which was published by the Kremlin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia wished “President Trump a speedy recovery.” Peskov also said Putin was considering getting vaccinated against the new coronavirus.

In a telegram to the president of the United States, Chinese President Xi Jinping also sent wishes for a speedy recovery. “My wife Peng Liyuan and I express our condolences to you and your wife, Melania, and wish you a speedy recovery,” the Chinese president said in a statement. Before becoming infected, Trump used to call the new coronavirus the Chinese virus.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un also sent a message wishing Trump all the best and expressing hope that the US head of state will recover soon. This was reported by North Korean state media, quoted by Reuters.

Trump’s presidential rival Joe Biden also wished President Donald Trump and his wife Melania a speedy recovery.

“Jill (Biden’s wife) and I wish President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump a speedy recovery. We will continue to pray for the health of the President and his family,” Biden, 77, wrote on Twitter.
