Daily checks for the proper use of masks on public transport begin, and violators will be fined. This was announced today by Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov. The reason is that there are more and more violations by passengers on buses, and the number of people infected with coronavirus in recent days in Plovdiv is increasing, putting pressure on the city’s health system.
Out of a total of 30 beds, 22 are still unemployed in the COVID ward of St. Mina Hospital and 10 of 25 – in St. Panteleimon, specified the mayor and asked citizens to observe the anti-epidemic hygiene and disinfection measures, as well like wearing masks. He said that “we must also be prepared for online education, although children get sick more easily.”
The mayor stressed that in addition to the two municipal hospitals, which have disinfectants, medicines and medical equipment in the city, there are also private hospitals that accept patients with COVID-19 symptoms.
“For the first time in years, St. Mina Hospital, which is at the forefront of the fight against COVID, is making a profit by repaying its loans. The Plovdiv Municipality administration continues to work to increase the clinical pathways, which are paid for the NHIF. We support the doctors and their work and the hospital has already started to stand up, “recalled Zdravko Dimitrov.
A meeting with District Governor Dani Kanazireva is to make a decision on more serious measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus infection in Plovdiv.
