The head of the mountain rescue service in Kalofer, Damyan Cholpanov, said the dead tourist and his friend were not well equipped and did not wear appropriate shoes. He called on people visiting the mountain to learn a lesson, because this is another incident and it shows that the situation is underestimated.
“The wind was hurricane, the fog was thick. We took a bit of a chance, but the guys were tough and things went well. When there’s a team and a goal, people come together and do it!” Said Damyan Cholpanov, Head of the Mountain Rescue Service in Kalofer.
“Death was established by his friend, who managed to reach the body and make a trace, which was very valuable to us because we had the coordinates of the body itself,” explained the duty officer of the Mountain Rescue Service Tervel Totev.
At the scene of the incident, a team of ambulances and criminal police carried out inspections.
