The president held a meeting with the army commanders for COVID-19 – Society

The measures taken to fulfill the constitutional obligations of the Bulgarian army in an ongoing epidemic situation were discussed today at a meeting at the presidential institution.

The meeting was held at the initiative of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Rumen RadevRumen Radev

Rumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military reserve major general. Former commander of and was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Krassimir Karakachanov, the Chief of Defense, Admiral Emil Eftimov and the Director of the Directorate of Operations and Training of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Stanimir Hristov.

Donchev explained under what scenario the army will intervene in the fight against COVID-19

The most important task is to preserve the health and life of the personnel, so that the Armed Forces can continue to build capacities and carry out their functions in all conditions, said the head of state.

Ensuring the continuity of combat duty, as well as timely medical follow-up and treatment of personnel were some of the meeting’s topics. The Defense Minister and the Head of Defense reported on the measures implemented and planned to limit the spread of the coronavirus in the Bulgarian Army and prevent the loss of defense capabilities.
