The number of new coronavirus cases in Italy for the first time exceeded 20,000 for the first time – EU

Italy has registered 21,273 new infections with the coronavirus, the highest number reported since the beginning of the pandemic, DPA reported. The previous record was yesterday: 19,644.

The Civil Protection Service also reported 128 new deaths and 1,208 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, which is 80 more than the previous day and the highest number since May 7.

The total number of people infected since the start of the pandemic is 525,782 and the total number of victims has reached 37,338.

Italy closes theaters, cinemas and gyms

In Italy, tomorrow new restrictions will be imposed for at least a month due to the epidemic situation: gyms and gyms, swimming pools and cinemas will be closed, the working hours of cafes and restaurants will be reduced, masks outside they are mandatory, recalls the Associated Press. The goal is to preserve health and the economy, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said.
