In Italy, there were demonstrations against the new restrictions imposed by the government to combat Covid19, and violence broke out in at least two major cities in northern Italy, Milan and Turin, Reuters reported.

The Italian government ordered bars and restaurants to close at 6 p.m. Sunday and closed public gyms, cinemas and swimming pools to curb the second wave of the coronavirus, according to Reuters.

The bans come at a time when new coronavirus infections in the country have increased in the last 24 hours by 17,012 to a total of 542,789 since the start of the pandemic, while deaths have increased by 141 to a total of 37,479.

Germany reported 11,409 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 42 new cases of deaths from the insidious disease.


Slightly more than half of Germans believe current rules are sufficient to control the coronavirus, according to a new survey, DPA reported. According to half of the respondents, the current rules are not enforced strictly enough.

For his part, the leader of the opposition Popular Party in Spain, Pablo Casado, pointed out that the 6-month state of emergency in the country, which began on Sunday, should not last more than eight weeks. Other opposition parties also opposed the long-term state of emergency.

France has registered 26,771 new cases of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, TASS reported, citing French health authorities. This is the lowest number of people infected in recent days, the agency notes. A day earlier, France registered 52,000 new cases of infection without precedent in one day.

The new deaths on the last day are 258.

According to BMF TV, amid an increase in the number of people infected by coronavirus, French authorities are considering the possible introduction of new measures to combat Covid-19, including quarantine at the local level.
