Napoli were sanctioned with an official 0: 3 defeat and one point withdrawal from the asset, after the team did not appear in the match with Juventus as a guest earlier this month in the Serie A championship.
Napoli did not travel to Turin for the October 4 game, saying the local health authority (ASL) told the players to stay home after two members of their team passed a COVID-19 test. All of this has led to total confusion in the federation given the unspecified rules for such situations.
Even before it was clear that they would not appear, Napoli wrote a letter requesting that the match be postponed. But the Serie A League rejected his request, which meant that Juventus came to the stadium, in addition to officials, referees and lighting was included. The judges officially announced that the start of the match was postponed 45 minutes, which was never played after that.
The Serie A League disciplinary commission rejected Napoli’s claim of insurmountable barriers to not appearing and said there was a clear health protocol for Serie A that had not been followed.
At the moment, it is not clear what the reaction of Napoli is, who would hardly be happy, since they announced that they only obey the regulations of the local health authority ASL. Even before today’s meeting, the Neapolitan club threatened to appeal a possible decision and take legal action if a new date for the match is not set.
Napoli, who started with two wins, have 5 points after today’s decision. Juventus has 7.
