No, it was not a mistake to open, said the Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kostadin Angelov on the occasion of the resumption of restaurants and bars on March 1. He made his comment during today’s briefing in the Council of Ministers, in which the new restrictive measures were announced.
Angelov clarified that even then – at the end of February – he made it clear that if the situation worsens, there will be a new shutdown.
Thus, the restaurants had 21 working days and must close again this Monday, March 22. The possibility of food supplies remains.
The news of the new blockade is not well received by companies. They worry whether the austerity measures will last only 10 days or more. Some owners even threaten to disobey. Companies in this industry worry that they have not been operating at full speed for too long and are facing bankruptcy.
Therefore, new social and economic measures are eagerly awaited to support closed businesses.
The Bulgarian Retail Association told bTV that they were looking forward to this new closure, although the situation is not pleasant.
“We are not surprised. But we agree that the situation is very worrying and there are no hospital beds. It is very possible that there will be an extension. This is very worrying. We do not know what to do with our workers. What should we announce to them?” Marian Kolev from the Bulgarian Association of Retailers.
And the Health and Fitness Association ensures that they comply with all the measures and do not accept the closure.
