The one-time aid in the amount of BGN 210 for the use of basic tourist services for domestic tourism at the sites and places of accommodation for frontline workers will be in support of the entire sector. The funds are allocated from the national budget and are intended for frontline workers in the control of the coronavirus pandemic. Targeted financing can be used until November 30, 2021. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Mariana Nikolova, during a meeting with the concessionaires on the beaches of the sea. The Vice Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva and representatives of the Ministry also participated in the debate, which took place in the Sunny Beach complex.

Even during the state of emergency, with amendments to the Health Law, it was possible to reduce the concession fees owed by 50%, provided that the concessionaire reduces the final prices for consumers when using beach accessories, the Minister recalled. He noted that the owners of 56 maritime beaches submitted applications before May 25, 2020 for a reduction in rates for this summer season.

The Deputy Prime Minister reported that the direct line of the Ministry of Tourism, electronically and on social networks this season, received numerous signals from users – for incorrect labeling of services provided on the beach, for unclear areas for beach accessories paid and additional retail space for restaurants. He stressed that this violates the rights of tourists, has a strong negative effect on the general evaluation of the holidays and is reflected in the general image of the services provided. According to her, another irregularity that has been reported is problems with umbrellas and hammocks in paid areas, which generate inequality in the use of beach accessories.

Last season there were good examples: in 23 marine beaches, rented and concessioned, umbrellas and sunbeds are offered for free, and others: 68 strips, the unit price at which an umbrella or hammock is offered is less than 5 lev. said the deputy prime minister. He thanked the owners who introduced these anti-crisis measures to attract more visitors to the coast and encourage travel to our spas. This has a positive effect on the overall results for the 2020 summer season.

Representatives of the concessionaires raised the question of the possibility of classifying the beaches, since the strips are different and have their own peculiarities that must be taken into account when concluding the management contracts. The Minister noted that such an idea is being considered, working on an analysis in that direction.

The issue of keeping the strips unguarded, which are visited frequently and keeping them clean, is also a top priority. During the meeting, issues related to the distances between beach accessories, the control of their observance and the relationship between the free zone and the payment of the strips were discussed. During the discussion, possible measures related to the activities of the concessionaires and activities related to the preparation for the 2021 season were also discussed.
