Nurseries and gardens appear to be closed until the New Year – Education

So said the Deputy Mayor for Culture and Education of Sofia, Prof. Dr. Todor Chobanov.

“We will meet, discuss the issue and judge. The percentage of cases is high, and this is a high-risk system. The argument is that the children are with their families on vacation anyway. An opening within a week created many more problems, “he explained.

Nurseries and gardens open first, if measures work

According to him, despite the difficulties, parents in Sofia can make the necessary organization to take care of their children at home.

“My personal opinion is that it makes no sense to open for a short time and then close again. Eventually, after the New Year, in a much better pandemic situation, we will start to open,” revealed Prof. Asoc. Chobanov.

The drilling “for” and “against” of the opening of kindergartens began after the declaration of the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Kostadin Angelov, that if the data on the spread of the virus is good, it will first be kindergartens and nurseries will open. This was followed by a comment from Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who said he had ordered everyone to open at the age of 14, including the gardens. Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova also confirmed that she is ready to open the kindergartens. However, in the periodic briefing of the National Operational Headquarters yesterday, Minister Angelov made it clear that no one had promised to open, because data on the success of the restrictive measures introduced until December 21 is still being analyzed.

Meanwhile, principals are seeking input from parents on whether to let their children go before Christmas if the gardens are open.
