The most anticipated match of the Italian soccer round between Juventus and Napoli failed and was engulfed in complete chaos associated with positive cases of the coronavirus.

The champion’s players arrived by bus at his “Allianz Stadium” in Turin about an hour before the announced start of the match and even appeared on the field to the sound of music accompanying the matches. There were also officials in Turin. However, the guests from Naples were still in Naples.

After the mandatory 45-minute wait, the match was declared void. According to the rules of Serie A, when one team does not show up, an official 3-0 victory is awarded to the other team.

Napoli explained that they did not travel because they were prohibited. The order came from local health authorities (ASL) after two players tested positive in the last four days.

In a television interview, an ASL employee in Naples confirmed that the players had been ordered to stay home. “We have never specifically said that they should not play the game, but obviously this is a consequence of order,” he said.

Previously, Serie A insisted that the match should take place. According to the league, ASL has ignored the health protocol signed by the ministries of health and sports, as well as by the soccer authorities. According to him, if the players test positive, the rest of the team can train and play matches if they have negative results. Each team must have at least 13 players, but a club can request a postponement without being penalized with an official loss if ten players test positive in one week.

Serie A added that this season there have already been several cases of matches in which a team had one or more infected but separated players.

A week ago, Napoli welcomed Genoa, who have 17 positive players. The Genoa team’s match against “Torino” in this round was postponed.
