Italy registered 7322 new infected with COVID-19. This is the highest number of people infected per day in the country since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the ANSA agency reported.

Therefore, the total number of confirmed cases in the Apennines since the beginning of the pandemic is 372 799. The previous anti-registration of infected in one day was registered on March 21 – 6557.

However, Italian health authorities note that a much greater number of tests were carried out in the last 24 hours than on March 21. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Italy is 36,289 (43 in the last 24 hours). 539 patients are in the intensive care unit.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has said he is determined to avoid a new quarantine at the national level just as the economy recovers from the previous one. However, some of the country’s leading scientists say a new quarantine may be the only way to halt the growth of the pandemic. Worldwide, the number of confirmed cases has exceeded 38 million and 700 thousand.
