GERB abandons the intention that the monthly allowances for children next year will not have an income criterion for all families.
With the savings in this way in excess of BGN 205 million, additional funds will be provided for a 15% increase in the salaries of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as for the monthly supplements promised to the salaries of doctors and nurses.
Between the first and second reading of the draft State Budget Law for 2021, the ruling party proposes to increase the income criterion for child benefits by 100 BGN. Therefore, households with a family member’s income of up to BGN 510 will receive full children, and those with income between BGN 510 and 650 will receive 80 percent of the supplement. Both the president of the GERB parliamentary group, Daniela Daritkova, and the president of the budget commission, Menda Stoyanova, have signed the proposal.
According to the initial idea of the government, the following year all parents should receive child benefits regardless of their income. In the new proposal, he says this has received disapproval. The reasons for the criticism were that there is no targeted support for the most needy families.
The new texts foresee an increase in the allowances for one child from BGN 40 to BGN 50, for two, from BGN 90 to BGN 110, for three children, from BGN 135 to BGN 165, for families with four children, from BGN 145 to 185 BGN. Attendance will increase as before by BGN 20 for each subsequent child after the fourth child.
77.5 million BGN is reserved in the Home Office system for the further increase. The bill stipulates that front-line doctors receive a monthly salary of BGN 600, health specialists BGN 350 and nurses BGN 120.
A total of BGN 314.5 million is needed for these costs. To complement the amount of 204,860 million saved, other budget adjustments are proposed.
