The crisis headquarters in Blagoevgrad announced new measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Due to the growth of infected people, weddings, baptisms and large company meetings in restaurants and bars are restricted for 14 days. At the moment, there is no need to restrict entry and exit from Blagoevgrad. This was announced by the municipal crisis headquarters, BNT reports.

Control is being strengthened on the observance of the provisions on the mandatory use of masks indoors and at a distance, both indoors and in places where many people gather.

On market days, Saturday and Wednesday, it will be carefully monitored if distance and traffic restrictions are carefully observed in the open vegetable market area in the city, where there is traditionally a large crowd.

“The holding of massive events such as weddings, christenings and the like will be limited to 14 days,” announced the mayor of Blagoevgrad, Rumen Tomov, after a meeting of municipal crisis staff.

Tomov convened a headquarters due to the complicated situation with COVID-19 in Blagoevgrad, which fell into the “red zone” of the country’s regional cities along with Targovishte due to the high number of infected per capita.

The mayor said that the condition of the infected employees of the Pirin complex is good. 23 members of the ensemble tested positive for coronavirus.

“Blagoevgrad leads the ranking because in the district the samples taken are the largest in the whole country. Perhaps that is one of the reasons, without underestimating the situation,” said the mayor.

He insists that checkpoints and schools will not be installed at the entrance to the regional city and that everything will function as normal.

Authorities across the district have reported a new record number of coronavirus infections. There are 91 new cases of COVID-19 registered in the last 24 hours, and almost half of those infected are from the regional center of Blagoevgrad.

In Targovishte, all mass events have also been postponeduntil the peak of the infection passes.

In just two days, health inspectors in Targovishte have identified more than 40 violations for non-compliance with anti-epidemic measures in restaurants, businesses and public transport.

“In the morning, drivers without masks or people wearing the masks incorrectly were seen on certain buses, but with control this will gradually improve,” said Darin Dimitrov, mayor of Targovishte.

As a preventive measure, on the second day, students from the two largest high schools in Targovishte study remotely. School buildings are disinfected.

The children are expected to return to classrooms on Monday, but if there is an increase in coronavirus infections again, they will continue to study from home. There are currently 14 teachers with COVID-19.

In Targovishte hospital all the beds are already occupied. The management of the health facility has spent BGN 50,000 over budget to provide protective clothing for medical staff. Currently, the hospital is raising funds for PCR test kits.
