Eight teachers tested positive for COVID-19 at the Petko Karavelov 55 school in the capital. All those infected are in quarantine and show no symptoms of infection. Some of them were with the children on September 15, according to the school.

“If there are infected children, the health authorities will say. Today the test of all those who have had contact with the infected pedagogues is near,” said the director of the educational institution Tanya Ivancheva.

“On Sunday, a colleague underwent a PCR test of his own free will, which came back positive. On Monday, everyone who had contact with him was tested. It was decided to test all the school personnel, including the not pedagogical, ”Ivancheva added.

He explained that the learning process continues according to plan. It was reassuring to the parents that all the teachers in the building at the time were absolutely healthy and tested negative. The principal added that there is a resource for all teachers to be replaced and for classes to continue normally.

“I do not worry much about the situation. This is not something unexpected. It was clear that when many people meet in the same place, despite the measures, there will be infected. The risk is always there,” adds the father of two children from Doncho Angelov school.
