Antarctica is no longer the only continent where the pandemic coronavirus has not been found. Thirty-six aircraft carriers have been identified during tests at the base of General Bernardo O’Higgins in Chile, BTA reported.
The base, named after the Chilean national hero Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme, is located in the western part of the continent, not far from South America, and is connected to the country’s armed forces. Chile maintains a total of 13 bases in Antarctica, the statement read.
According to The Guardian, 26 of those infected were military and the other 10 were service personnel. All were evacuated to Chile and isolated. Doctors rate your health as good.
Three people from the crew of the ship that served the base were also infected, according to test data obtained after their return from Antarctica.
“The evacuation of the personnel was carried out thanks to a timely preventive action,” the Chilean army was quoted as saying by Newsweek.
The Antarctic station continues to operate with a new shift of personnel.
