The Canadian health regulator today approved the Covid-19 vaccine from the companies Pfizer (Pfizer) and Biontech (BioNTech), the Associated Press reported.

Canada thus became the third country to authorize the use of this vaccine, after Great Britain and Bahrain. The United States is expected to do the same in a few days.

Canada will receive 249,000 doses of the vaccine this month and it is expected to be delivered in a few days.

Health officials said the vaccine was for people at least 16 years old, but said that Pfizer and Biontech were conducting additional clinical trials with children of all ages and that the restriction could be changed.

Previously, the two companies announced that they would deliver a minimum of 20 million doses of their vaccine and a maximum of 76 million to Canada next year.

The country has signed supply contracts with six other KOVID-19 vaccine developers.

In the last 24 hours, 5,978 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in Canada, and the total number of infected reaches 429,035, TASS reported.

90 people have died in the last 24 hours. There are now 12,867 deaths in Canada.

344,200 people were healed.

So far, 12 million Canadians have been tested for the coronavirus.
