A woman in Alaska says she “jumped and screamed” after being attacked by a bear while using the bathroom, the BBC reported.

Shannon Stevens was injured while using a remote outdoor bathroom by Chilkat Lake. After hearing their screams, Stevens’ brother went to see what was causing the noise, only to find the bear’s head in the toilet hole. Shannon says the wound was caused by a bite or the animal’s claw.

He was spending the weekend in the yurt with his brother Eric and his girlfriend when the accident happened. In the early afternoon they had cooked sausages on a fireplace. “I went out and sat in the bathroom and immediately something bit my ass when I sat down,” he said. She yelled at her brother, who came out with a torch to help her. After pointing to the bathroom, Eric saw “right there, at the level of the toilet seat, the face of a bear,” he said.

They ran to the yurt, deciding to wait for the day to come. Shannon treated her wound with a first aid kit. The next morning, they noticed traces of bear’s feet by the fireplace and outhouse. Alaskan game and fish biologist Carl Koch told KTOO News that he believed the animal was a black bear. “She may be the only person this happens to. I wouldn’t be surprised if weird things happened to other people over the years, but in February, sitting in an outhouse and something like that happens to you is very unusual. “.

Shannon told the Anchorage Daily News that she would practice “looking first then sitting down” in the future.
