Many districts across the country are considering returning students from sixth to twelfth grade to the classroom, despite the pandemic and reduced health system capacity. The reason is that the end of the crisis cannot be predicted and children cannot stay home for long.
On Wednesday, the crisis headquarters in Sofia will meet to decide what form of education will be available to students in the city after November 27, Mayor Yordanka Fandakova told BNT on Saturday. He admitted that the gradual return of children to classrooms is being considered, but special schedules need to be developed.
“We need to think about a gradual return if the situation allows it, but we can’t get everyone to go back to school at once,” he said.
There are similar ideas in several other areas of the country. Older students will alternate between face-to-face and non-face-to-face.
On Monday, students from sixth to twelfth grade returned to Pazardzhik district, the local crisis headquarters announced. “We cannot leave the children at home until spring,” Sega told Lieutenant Governor Yordan Kozhuharov. In this context, the local hospital is in a very serious condition due to the large number of infected doctors and the exhausted capacity to receive seriously ill patients, which are in abundance.
Beginning Monday, attendance training will resume for high school students in Montana and Pernik districts. The face-to-face and online training schedules have already been published on some of the schools’ websites and on the Shkolo.bg platform.
Currently, the Ministry of Education has prepared three options to alternate distance and face-to-face training to reduce the risks of infection.

It is not good for the same children to be trapped in an electronic environment until Christmas.
