When Englishman Brendan Grimshaw was forty, he quit his job as a newspaper editor and started a new life. For $ 13,000 he bought a small uninhabited island in the Seychelles and moved there permanently.
Before Brandon Grimshaw, no one had visited this island for 50 years. Together with Rene Leforten, Brandon began to furnish the new home.
While Renee came to the island periodically, Brandon lived there for decades.
The two planted 16,000 trees in 39 years and made 5 km of trails. Renee died in 2007, leaving Brandon alone.
It brought 2,000 new species of birds and more than 100 endangered giant tortoises to the island.
Brandon Grimshaw died in 2012 at the age of 94.
