A man was vaccinated against COVID-19 and then died – EU

A Swiss citizen, who was one of the first vaccinated in the country, died after being vaccinated with Pfizer-Biontech, Reuters reported, citing Lucerne authorities. At this stage, it is not revealed whether the death was related in any way to the vaccine.

“We are aware of the case!” Was the succinct response of a spokesman, who specified that an investigation by the Swiss drug regulator is pending.

A paramedic became infected with COVID-19 six days after receiving the vaccine.

The health authorities of the canton of the same name also refused to explain how much time elapsed from the moment of vaccination to death.

Lucerne was one of the first cities in the country to launch a vaccination campaign with Pfizer-Biontech last week. Switzerland received 107,000 doses of the drug and a second shipment of 250,000 vaccines is expected earlier this year.

At this stage, Pfizer has no answer on the tragic event of its preparation. The Swiss drug regulator also did not make a statement.
