A pregnant woman from Varna in the ninth month, with a positive COVID-19 test, was not admitted to any medical institution in the coastal city, despite having difficulty breathing. This was told by the mother-in-law of the future mother, reports BNT.

The pregnant woman and her husband were quarantined with positive PCR tests. Yesterday, however, the woman’s condition worsened. Her personal physician visited her at home and on her recommendation they called the Emergency Medical Center.

“For two hours the ambulance has been walking from one place to another, to a third party and without being accepted,” says Lidia Dimitrova.

The emergency team first took the woman to the Infectious Disease Clinic at St. Marina University Hospital. The guards said it was not for them and sent her to the Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital, where they did not accept the pregnant woman either. The health institution explained that the woman had no gynecological problems and was not currently giving birth. Then the ambulance went back to St. Marina Hospital, but they were returned on the way.

Finally, the pregnant woman was transferred to the Emergency Service of St. Anna Hospital. There she was examined and after consulting a gynecologist by phone, they told her it was not for hospitalization.

“She called my son, he told me they didn’t want to take her and I had to go get her,” Lydia added.

Tonight, however, the pregnant woman was placed for observation in an isolated room in the Maternity Ward at St. Anna General Hospital.
