Another scandalous case in Plovdiv. Two patients died within a few hours in the newly formed COVID-19 ward at the Allergology Clinic at St. George University Hospital in Plovdiv, BNT reported.

A scandalous video shows how the two men previously waited to settle in front of the building, one – breathing oxygen and the other – lying on the stairs. They were transferred from the Infectious Diseases Clinic, where they were treated in the previous days.

Both patients wait more than 40 minutes before contacting a medical professional.

The health institution announced that an investigation into the case has already started and if a violation is found, the Plovdiv prosecutor’s office will be notified.

The man sitting on the sidewalk in front of the allergology department, with an oxygen mask in his mouth, is Mr. Gospodinov from the town of Brestnik. Next to him on the stairs is Lyubcho Lalev from Plovdiv. The date is November 16.

A few hours later, the two passed away at the clinic, which was recently transformed into a ward for treating COVID-19 patients. They were previously treated at the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the University Hospital.

Gospodinov’s relatives are still in shock.

“My husband is 100% disabled with help, 6 heart attacks, 7 stents, with three bypasses, kidney cancer during the day he is on hemodialysis,” said Maria Gospodinova, the wife of the deceased patient.

The 61-year-old man has maintained a temperature above 37.4 degrees for an entire week. His wife tried to take him to the hospital for an exam, but he was denied several places. On November 14, he was transferred to the Kuklen emergency center, from where he was sent to the Plovdiv Infectious Disease Clinic.

“We sat for about two hours, he checked in at the reception, my husband no longer had the strength,” said Maria Gospodinova.

After the doctors’ evaluation, her husband was transferred to the newly formed COVID-19 patient ward at the other base of the hospital.

“They received him on the third floor, going up the stairs. After an hour he called me again and said that they had sent me back to Infectious Diseases, that it was not for them,” said Maria Gospodinova.

Her husband remains in the Infectious Disease Clinic until Monday, scheduled for hemodialysis, which was not done anyway. For reasons that were not clear to Maria, it was again decided to transport him to the court for minor cases:

“We waited more than 47 minutes, we searched, we shouted, they don’t have stretchers, they don’t have wheelchairs. We enter between the second and third floors.

Within minutes, the man’s condition worsened and he died shortly after in the intensive care unit. The death notice indicates that the cause of death was cardiac arrest and that he was diagnosed with COVID-19, a fact of which his wife was not notified.

The other man in the video, Lyubcho Lalev from Plovdiv, also died hours after Gospodinov.

The two families are considering filing a class action lawsuit against the Ministry of Health.

Plovdiv District Governor Dani Kanazireva also ordered an urgent investigation into the case. Results are expected in the next few days.
